And our crazy summer continues. I love summer, and being outside what can I say! Unfortunately when it means choosing a nice cold drink and sitting on the patio or shutting myself up in my office and editing… hands down the patio wins every time! I have taken a million photos and this is a long blog post, but I had to wait till this rainy day to get some editing done. We have done a lot of playing outside, and in the pool. This week we went to a night icubs game and saw fire works, a parade, got ice cream, went swimming and met “Ernie the Keebler Elf” ! I hope everyone else has had a wonderful few weeks also. Sorry for the short post, There is a couch downstairs with my name on it and my lovely family to snuggle up with and watch a movie. Rainy summer days are good 2 🙂
I do not even know where to begin. The month of may has just been a whirlwind. So many big things in my life and the lives of the ones I love. It feels so strange to not have anything that needs to be planned or fixed, or celebrated. This week is blogged late because I needed time to think how to even put into words how special this week was.
First my baby girl celebrated her 3rd birthday. Everyday she becomes more and more independent. She is so witty… and sassy 🙂 She always has a one liner. She is a “Pfaff” thru and thru. She has so much of that side in her it cracks me up. She is always there with a smile and those big eyelashes to make your heart melt and for you to forget any anger or sadness. How could we have ever thought of a life without her.
And then there was my baby sisters wedding. She had the most amazing wedding weekend. We stayed that the most incredible resort and had so much fun! The kids swam (and yes they are crazy because it was freezing!) And I got to see so many old friends and meet so many new ones. It truly was a joining of two incredible families. I started bawling while giving my speech… I am so not good at speeches. But the tears were pure joy for my sister and Sean. They are starting a new chapter in their life together and I am so excited for them! I am so happy that Kristy has found someone that makes her smile, and loves her with his whole heart.
Special shout out to The Gathering Place an amazing place to vacation and one we truly plan on returning to. And to Dani Stephenson the most incredible and patient photographer. I am pretty sure neither Kristy or I would have made it thru without you. It is true photographers are therapists in times of crisis
So now I start an uneventful month. Just me, my camera, and my family.
Quinn turned 3! Her birthday party was not till Sunday so her party photos will be on the next blog post. She had a Birthday weekend with lots of love and friends and family all around her! Her biggest milestone at 3 is moving out of mommy and daddy’s bed. We attempted to get her a big girl bed, but she just wasn’t ready to sleep on her own. So loving big brother said it was ok for her to sleep in his bed. I cannot believe how close they are. He is her protector and her best friend and I am so happy that they are such amazing siblings. I know they will share this bond for the rest of their life. Just as Ryan and his siblings have, and my sister and I have.
We have been going thru some things that have kept me busy and absent from photos. Because of this I have decided to still take a photo a day but give myself a break and do it on my iphone every once in a while. I love my big camera but when your mind is elsewhere or you body is too tired to run and get it, that iphone is oh so handy 🙂 I am off tomorrow for my sisters wedding vacation (5day weekend). I hope everyone is having an amazing spring! It’s a little wet around here but oh so green 🙂
Don’t laugh but since I have an incredibly talented sister in law who shoots amazing photos, and lives next door…. I rarely have the need to try and figure out how to get in front of the camera. That being said there are a lot of times that I am absent from major events in our lives because I hide behind my camera. I hope, now that I have finally put the effort in and figured out my self timer that may change. At least a little bit more often.
My kids were so excited for this. We were making some cookies for the road trip to Wisconsin for my sisters wedding. We had so much fun. Dad was out mowing the lawn so we just took over the kitchen. We blasted the music. We used measuring cups as drums and shortening sticks as microphones. It is so special to have memories like this. Both my children love to bake. Ethan’s attention span is a little less then his sisters but he just loved being silly and spending time with his mom. Being a mom to these wonderful children is my greatest accomplishment and I need to soak it all up! These photos my not be technically perfect, but they are priceless!!!!
This month has just shot by. I am catching up today with photos from a couple weeks ago.
I didn’t have time to blog them last week because I was in Chicago!!!! It was so fun. I am still recovering from sleep deprivation but I have to say hands down best brochette party ever! The first night started out with amazing food and drinks at The Franklin Room. By far hands down the best eating experience I have ever had. My cousin Tony Glover (general manager) was amazing. He opened my eyes to some food that I never thought I would ever try. Muscles, oysters, tartar, the whole nine yards. Not to mention the best drink I think I have ever had The 18th Century. If you are ever in Chicago you have to stop in and try this place!
We had a blast shopping all day and going out on the town all night for 3 nights straight! I love Chicago and have to say I miss it a little already. More then anything it was so nice to spend time with my sister. I am so happy she has found someone like Sean to spend the rest of her life with. They just fit together. I don’t know how else to describe it.
In the end it was nice to come home to my little family. To go to bed before 10pm, and to not have to wear anything but sweat pants and an old T shirt all day on mothers day. My family was so sweet to greet me with flowers and a card at the airport. I loved them up and the went down to the basement with a large fluffy blanket and watched 50 shades of grey 🙂
I feel like it has taken all week to feel like myself again. Sleep deprivation will do that to a girl. But I feel great again and caught up whew! That is until the wedding weekend begins. 11 days and counting!!!!
Lots of amazing sun this week. And we took full advantage!!!! We could not keep Quinn inside, and Ethan was always off playing with his friends (thus limited photos of my little man this week). He did however run his first 1K! He did so well and got 6th place! We are are so proud of him for finding something he loves and really enjoys. Maybe he will even be able to convince his lazy old mom to run with him every once in a while 😉
We had a very rainy week here. Until today it has been gloomy. Because of the gloomy rain however the flowers are blooming and today the sun finally came out! I had a few later days at work so it was nice to just come home to my amazing family and just snuggle under the covers while the rain pattered on our window. I am pretty sure we have watched Mulan no less then 5 times this week (Quinn’s new favorite movie). Ethan started to wear his patch again for his lazy eye. It has been very hard on him. I wish more then anything that we would have caught it at an earlier age and I cannot help but beat myself up for not. All you can do when something stomps on your heart is count the many blessings your life holds and move forward. Everyone has their own mountains to climb. I am that much more thankful for the happiness my life posses.
We had a few warm days this week and took full advantage. Aunt Lindy even spoiled the kids with a little pool fun! Quinn refused to get out the little stink! Even though the water was freezing!!! We also got to meet Rossie our neighbors guinea pig. Everyone loved her to pieces. She was so sweet and didn’t mind all the kids giving her love. Quinn finally got the hang over her big girl bike! She was so excited that she was just like the big kids! Ethan has been a little camera shy lately so I have been giving him his space this week. Hope to get some cute ones of my boy next week 🙂
We spent a lovely Easter in Minnesota! The kids had so much fun seeing their cousins and it was so nice to catch up with family. I wish so much that we all lived closer. We had a huge Easter egg hunt for the kids in my dad’s back yard. If you happen to follow me on twitter you will see after the eggs were out a woodland creature came to check them out 🙂 Pretty sure that deer do not like skittles and Hershey kisses lol. As for the rest of the week we have been just trying to play catch up. I think I still have not come close to washing everything Ugh! I hope every one had a Happy Easter!!
